A COMPLETE SYSTEM
POWER AND PERFORMANCE
Volvo Penta sterndrive gives you a complete system where all parts have been developed in parallel. This translates into higher reliability and overall performance. The drives and propellers have been carefully designed to match the engine torque and boat speed. The purpose is to get as much thrust as possible out of every single drop of fuel.
COMPREHENSIVE CONTROL
Electronic Vessel Control (EVC) monitors and controls engines and transmission:
- Individually steerable drives with twin counter-rotating propellers. (Requires factory-fitted electronic steering.)
- Engines connected to the drives through the stern, electronically controlled from numerous helm stations
- Helm station with throttle, displays, joystick, steering wheel

TRIM FOR A BETTER RIDE
With the trimmable sterndrive, the thrust angle (direction) can be constantly optimised to provide a smoother ride and lower fuel costs. Adding the optional Powertrim assistant, the software automatically adjusts and optimises your drive trim for the best possible running attitude, getting you up on plane quickly and compensating for wind and load.
SUPERB FUEL EFFICIENCY AND INCREASED COMFORT
Aquamatic Sterndrive with Duoprop propellers gives you high efficiency and power while you benefit from reduced fuel consumption –up to 30% when compared to most inboard and outboard solutions.
Additionally, the Aquamatic provides even more comfortable boating. Thanks to the engine’s placement, you can enjoy the benefits of a clean transom – allowing for a swimming platform, or unhindered watersports behind the boat.
THE BETTER ALTERNATIVE
The Aquamatic combines the benefits of both inboard as well as outboard systems. The combination of these benefits with the counter-rotating twin propellers, the Duoprop, renders unrivalled and fuel-efficient performance with responsive handling and safe grip. Compared with the outboard engine, the sterndrive engine is placed lower and more forward in the boat. In rough sea conditions, this makes for a more comfortable
ride.

THE AQUAMATIC STORY
The Aquamatic story begins back in the early 50s. It was then that marine engineer Jim Wynne decided that it was time for a change. He started working on an alternative propulsion solution that could combine inboard performance with the manoeuvring benefits of an outboard. He finished his first prototype based on a BB70 Penta inboard in March of 1958. And the rest – all the way to today’s high-performance Aquamatic Sterndrives – is a true success story.
